Subject

Public international Law with specialisation in Law and AI

Subject description

Public international law comprises the rules and principles of international law governing the conduct and mutual relations of states and international organisations, and to some extent their relations with natural and legal persons (cf. the American Law Institute, Restatement (Third) of the Foreign Relations Law of the United States).

Law and AI is a cross-border field of jurisprudence that addresses legal challenges in AI, digitalisation and legal tech in society, and concerns the role of law in various respects in the development of digital developments in society. The rapid development challenges and creates new legal challenges related to the interaction between technological advances, their extensive use and adaptation, and changes in law. These challenges can raise questions about the role of digitalisation and AI in a democratic society, implications for human rights, ethical issues, and the emergence of new rights and obligations, such as the right to be forgotten and the right to be erased. The topic includes, among other things, the treatment of digital services, the role of the internet, the freedom to publish, the free movement of goods and services including e-commerce and digital delivery, the development of AI and legal tech.
