Description of the workplace 

The research at the division of Solid State Physics is focused around different aspects of semiconductor physics, ranging from materials science to quantum physics, to different applications. The division plays a major role in NanoLund, the major interdisciplinary research environment within nanoscience and nanotechnology at Lund University, and it hosts Lund Nano Lab, a central key facility for fabrication of material and devices on the nanoscale. The division is also heavily involved in the undergraduate education, especially within the “Engineering Nanoscience” program. More information is found at: www.ftf.lth.se and www.nano.lu.se

Work duties 

The position will be part of projects aimed at detecting biomolecules and semiconductor nanostructures. The aim of the project is to detect biomarkers in turbid fluids, such as milk or blood, using optical signals.

The tasks include:

  • Supporting ongoing projects aiming to optically detect biomolecules using nanowires.
  • May also include fabrication and characterisation of other types of structures, e.g. microfluidic devices.

Qualifications  

Required qualifications for the position are:

  • Master's degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, physics, nanoscience and nanotechnology, or a related field.
  • Experience in biochemical methods.

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  • Experience in working with experimental optics.
  • Experience in biochemical functionalisation of nanostructured surfaces.
  • Experience in applying for ethical approval for research using human biomaterials.
  • Experience in image analysis.
  • Experience in collaboration between academia and the private sector.

Further information 

Fixed-term employment for 5 months, 100 %. Start 2025-07-01 or after agreement.
