Senior Lecturer in Fine Arts

We are looking for a Senior Lecturer in Fine Arts with a specialisation in installation, digital
imaging and drawing, including administrative duties as Director of Studies.

As a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art, you are expected to have the ability to analyse the
communicative aspects of artistic expressions and processes in a discursive and contemporary
artistic context. This is a central part of being able to work with messages and content in artistic
practice. You will collaborate with the teaching staff and school technicians to plan and
organise the teaching. Teaching can be individual or group-based and include seminars,
workshops and guest lectures.

Through this diverse teaching structure, you will contribute to developing students' artistic skills
in the liberal arts. The students will receive training in technical skills as well as a deeper
understanding of the complexities of artistic production. Furthermore, they will be given the
tools to develop their own artistic methods and approaches to the subject.

The role of Director of Studies also includes administrative tasks, such as course planning,
curriculum design, scheduling and student counselling. 

Tasks and responsibilities

• Teaching Fine Art with a particular focus on installation, digital imaging and drawing, both
  through undergraduate courses and individual tutorials.
• Participation in the admission jury for the Bachelor of Fine Arts programme, including
  assessment of applications and interviews.
• Active participation in faculty meetings.
• Performing additional duties as required.

As Director of Studies, you will be responsible for administrative tasks in the areas of
scheduling, curricula and other administrative functions.

Qualifications

Qualified for employment as Senior Lecturer in Fine Arts with a specialisation in installation,
digital imaging and drawing are those who have demonstrated pedagogical skills, who have
completed a degree in Fine Arts at second-cycle level or have otherwise acquired equivalent
knowledge, and who have other skills of significance with regard to the subject focus of the
employment and the tasks included in the employment.

Lund University stipulates as an eligibility requirement that applicants for teaching posts must,
as part of their teaching skills, have completed a higher education teaching programme lasting
at least five weeks, or possess equivalent knowledge and skills.

Requirements for the position are:

• Demonstrated teaching expertise
• A degree in fine arts at the advanced level or equivalent knowledge acquired in some other
  way, and other competences relevant to the subject area of the post and the tasks involved in the post
• An active artistic career with organisational experience
• Artistic expertise in installation, digital imaging and drawing
• Good knowledge of English and one Scandinavian language
• Organisational experience

Assessment criteria

• Good subject knowledge relevant to the content of the post and the tasks involved
• Good pedagogical skills, which means good ability to conduct and develop teaching and other educational activities at different levels and with varied teaching methods
• Very good professional experience or other experience relevant to the post
• Experience in teaching and artistic supervision at higher education level
• Organisational and administrative experience

Meritorious is also higher education pedagogical training of at least five weeks or possess
equivalent knowledge and skills. 

Terms and conditions

The employment is limited in time for three years with the support of the Higher Education
Ordinance chapter 4 §10.

The scope of the employment is 60% of full time. Access according to agreement.
