Description of the workplac

The Department of Immunotechnology is dedicated to research in Life Science, including immunology, oncology, and hypersensitivity/allergy. Our modern premises are located at Medicon Village, which hosts academic researchers, Life Science companies and health care actors. Several key infrastructures are available here, including facilities for spatial omics, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, and antibody engineering, as well as NBIS (National Bio-informatics Infrastructure Sweden) bioinformaticians. Application of advanced technology to address complex biomedical challenges has positioned the Department at the forefront of several research areas and generated multiple spin-off companies also located at Medicon Village.

Work duties and areas of responsibility

You will be part of a research group focusing on spatial tumor biology. We are profiling interactions between tumor and immune cells to understand immune responses in tumors and how the immune system can be stimulated for an improved treatment response. We work in multidisciplinary, translational projects to develop tools for precision medicine. You will have a particular responsibility for setting up model systems based on cell lines and fresh, patient derived tissues from ovarian tumors, and assess novel combinations of immune stimulatory drugs. Your work tasks include cell and tissue cultures, analysis using e.g. flow cytometry, ELISA, RNAseq, multiplex immunofluorescence and related data analysis and bioinformatics. 

Qualifications

Requirements for employment are:

  • Master’s education in biotechnology, cell biology, molecular biology or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience in bioinformatics such as for example applying R scripts
  • Excellent written and oral English knowledge and skills
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  • Practical experience in handling tissue and/or human cells
  • Practical experience of working with protein and/or RNA-related laboratory workflows
  • Practical experience of bioinformatics analysis of omics data and compilation of related documentation
  • Experience in analysis of patient data and related statistical testing
  • Knowledge in ovarian cancer biology, cell biology and/or immunology

Personal qualities, such as commitment, scientific interest, precision, good communication and cooperation skills, are of particular importance.

Further information

The position is a fixed term position for 6 months at 100 % and starting in August 18 2025 or by agreement.
