The research group Genetics and Diabetes, conducts research in the field of precision medicine and metabolic complexity in type 2 diabetes. The research is at the forefront of the areas of precision medicine and genetics related to diabetes and its complications. You can read more about the research here. Description of the project
This project will investigate cardiovascular disease in individuals with diabetes, primarily through genetic analyses in large patient and population cohorts.
Work duties and responsibilities
The main tasks of a doctoral student are to devote themselves to their doctoral education and therefore you will be both admitted as a student and employed at Lund University.
In this project, under the supervision of Associate Professor Emma Ahlqvist, you will conduct research focused on cardiovascular disease and precision medicine in type 2 diabetes. We will use statistical and genetic approaches to analyze data from large cohorts to identify genetic variants and risk factors contributing to cardiovascular disease susceptibility and related traits. We will also examine how these interact with diabetes subtypes and environmental factors. Findings will be further explored through bioinformatic methods. Other techniques may include machine learning and mathematical modeling. Additional tasks within the research group may also be included.

About the employment
The position is a fixed-term position for a total of four years, 100% with a start date of September 1st 2025 or as agreed. The main rule is that employment at Lund University is conducted in Sweden, so you are expected to be able to perform your work on site in Malmö.
