Description of the workplace

This position as researcher is within the experimental nuclear structure group in Lund, which is part of the Division of Particle and Nuclear Physics at the Department of Physics. Work Duties

You are going to work with the maintenance and final construction of various detector systems the group is responsible for within several international research groupings and collaborations in Europe and the United States. Therefore, you are required to work together with colleagues in international research environments. You are going to analyze existing research data which should lead to scientific publications. You are going to be involved in teaching activities, primarily supervision of first-cycle nuclear physics laboratories. There are opportunities to participate in outreach activities and take courses in university pedagogics. Your main workplace is the Department of Physics in Lund, but travels to accelerator laboratories in Europe are also going to be necessary. The position requires clear and thoughtful communication.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in experimental nuclear structure physics.
  • Documented practical experience in the development, construction, and handling of segmented detectors for particle and gamma radiation.
  • Documented experience in the use of multi-parameter data acquisition systems based on pulse shape digitisation.
  • Documented experience of participating in nuclear structure experiments at international accelerator facilities.
  • Documented experience in the development and maintenance of shared software on large-scale computing infrastructure.
  • Ability to collaborate in an international research collaboration.
  • Very good oral and written skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Documented teaching experience at basic and advanced levels.
  • Documented experience of supervising degree projects.
  • Documented experience of interaction between the university and the wider society.
  • Oral and written skills in Swedish.

Further information

This employment as Researcher is a temporary full-time employment for one year start date as agreed.
