The Department of Process and Life Science Engineering (PLE) at Lund University is located at Kemicentrum, one of the Nordics' largest centers for education and research in the field of chemistry. PLE has around 150 employees, of which around 65 are PhD students. The department offers a broad competence in areas such as chemical engineering, food technology, biotechnology and technical microbiology. The research and education at PLE spans the entire subject of chemistry and includes both undergraduate and graduate education. The Department of Process Engineering and Applied Biosciences (PLE) at Lund University works actively to ensure a good working environment through several initiatives and routines. Description of the Workplace

The position involves work within the FoSSNet project. The project's vision is a strengthened and deepened network to support a new knowledge and innovation governance structure for Europe's food system. The position also includes administrative tasks related to the EIT's Master's Programme in Food Systems Analysis EIT | LTH, Faculty of Engineering

Job duties and responsibilities

Your main duties will be:

  • To work as a research assistant within the FoSSNet project.
  • Follow up on the project's progress and ensure the implementation of the work plan.
  • Assist in organizing meetings, workshops and conferences.
  • Assist in the development of teaching materials and methods for food systems education, both in higher education and for professionals.
  • Assist in the coordination of the EIT Master's Programme in Food Systems.
  • Administration related to the above tasks.

Travel within Europe is part of the duties.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • A Master's degree in food systems or a related field
  • Knowledge of food systems, networks, research and education
  • Strong organizational, communication and coordination skills
  • Skills in the general use of software for systematic data search and analysis
  • Skills in synthesizing information
  • Very good ability to communicate in English, both spoken and written.

When assessing applicants, particular importance will be given to expertise in the subject. Following assessment criteria will be applied:

  • Skills in preparing, establishing and supervising activities related to research and educational development in food systems.
  • Ability to work independently and in a group, to analyze available information and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to present and discuss results.
  • Experience of working with transformations within the food system.
  • Experience of organizing workshops and conferences.

Consideration will be given to how the applicant, through his/her experience and competence, is assessed to complement and strengthen the administrative work within the department/institution and contribute to its future development.

The position is a fixed-term position for one year, full time (100%) with entry on November 15, 2025 or as agreed.
