Description of the workplace
The position is within the research group Neuroendocrine Cell Biology, EMV, Faculty of Medicine, Lund University. The group consists of the group leader
Nils Wierup, three to four postdoctoral researchers with different areas of expertise, a part-time PhD student, and a visiting researcher. The laboratory is located at CRC on the hospital campus in Malmö.We strive to maintain the best possible work environment and apply the principle of freedom with responsibility. All team members are involved in project management and decision-making processes, and we hold regular individual meetings with the group leader as well as group meetings when needed. Tasks and responsibilities
You will be responsible for independently designing, planning, and performing techniques such as qPCR, Western blot, Single Cell RNAseq, and bulk RNAseq in various cell systems. You will also be responsible for independently designing, planning, and conducting in vivo experiments on mice and pigs, as well as handling free-ranging pigs and sampling from them. You must be able to learn new methods such as CRISPR, spatial transcriptomics, etc., and plan, execute, and interpret the outcomes of these independently.You are highly experienced in histology and manage everything from large-scale sample preparation, sectioning, and performing and interpreting immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and proximity ligation assays. You have extensive experience with microscopy, including confocal microscopy, and morphometric analyses. You also have significant experience in planning and conducting clinical studies, including communication with healthcare personnel, sample handling, sample logistics, and database management. You must be able to interpret data, compile results, draw conclusions, and place them in a scientific context. You write fluently in scientific English, prepare manuscripts and accompanying figures and tables, and manage correspondence with scientific journals throughout the publication process. You also have experience presenting results orally at international scientific conferences.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position:
- Expertise in cell and molecular biology with extensive experience in establishing, developing, and refining molecular biology methods
- Extensive experience with in vivo work on mice and pigs
- Extensive experience with histological analyses
- Authorized for work with radioactivity
- Extensive experience in independently writing and compiling scientific articles, managing correspondence with scientific journals, and handling submission and revision processes
- Driver’s license
- Fluent in English
- Strong social and collaboration skills
Meritorious for the position:
- Publications in international journals, preferably with a prominent position in the author list
- A broad network within academia and the pharmaceutical industry
Further information
The position is permanent, full-time (100%), with a start date of 2026-03-01 or as agreed. A probationary period may apply.Interviews will be conducted at our premises in Malmö during week 3, 2026.
