Description of the Workplace
The Department of Cardiology at Lund University is a leading research and clinical environment focusing on advanced diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The department conducts both patient-centered clinical research and experimental studies in cardiology. A key area is heart failure, including the assessment and follow-up of patients with advanced heart failure, as well as research on heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.

The research environment is highly translational, meaning that results from basic science are implemented in clinical applications. The department conducts population studies, clinical trials, and experimental models at the cellular and animal levels. The workplace maintains close collaboration with Skåne University Hospital and international research networks, providing access to highly specialized equipment and multidisciplinary expertise. The environment is characterized by high scientific output, grant funding, and a dynamic team that includes researchers, doctoral students, and postdoctoral fellows. Job Duties and Responsibilities
We are looking for a person to work on the following tasks:

  • Responsible for research and development in heart failure and cardiomyopathies
  • Supervise PhD students and postdoctoral researchers
  • Apply for research grants
  • Give lectures and publish within the field
  • The individual is expected to work independently, and specialized expertise in the area is essential

Qualifications
Necessary qualifications for the job:

  • PhD in Cardiology
  • Associate Professor (Docent) in Cardiovascular Research
  • Familiarity with translational research methods used at the department, including omics studies, population studies, clinical trials, and experimental models at the cellular and animal level
  • Independent, precise, and strong planning skills

Meritorious are:

  • Medical degree
  • Research experience at a professor level
  • Previous experience in cardiology research on a high-level

Other information
The position is a permanent position on 20%. The desired start date is 2026-01-01 or as agreed upon.

The Faculty of Medicine is a part of Lund University and is responsible for education and research within medicine and healthcare. The Department of Clinical Sciences Lund is one of six departments at the Faculty of Medicine. Clinical Sciences Lund cooperates closely with Skåne University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine in order to optimize the conditions for preclinical and clinical translational research, research strategies and development, as well as education on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
