The position is linked to the Department of Solid State Physics at the Department of Physics, where extensive research is conducted in nanophysics, ranging from materials science to bio- and quantum physics to various applications. The department is a central part of NanoLund, Lund University's large interdisciplinary research centre for nanoscience and nanotechnology. The department includes Lund Nano Lab, a central and shared facility for the production of materials and components on the nanoscale. The department is also strongly involved in undergraduate education, not least in the civil engineering programme ‘Technical Nanoscience’ at LTH.
A significant part of the research at the department is focused on the characterisation of semiconductor materials. In recent years, Prof. Vanya Darakchieva's research group has developed ellipsometry with THz radiation and its applications in the characterisation of semiconductor materials and semiconductor components.

The position is a fixed term position for for the period 14th January to 14th August 2026 and is a 50% position. The position is covered by the Teacher Time Agreement.
The position must not adversely affect the amanuensis's studies and may not be combined with other positions within the university. The employment as a Teaching Assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), 5 chapter 8-12 §§. Employment as a teaching assistant may not correspond to more than 50 per cent of a full-time post. Duties must comprise educational tasks, administration or participation in research or artistic research. Teaching assistants shall be employed for an indefinite period, however, for no longer than one year. These appointments may be extended. The total employment period as a teaching assistant may not, however, exceed three years.
