Description of the workplace
The Department of Clinical Sciences, Malmö, hereby announces a position as a PhD-student with an accompanying employment within the research group for Surgery.
The research group includes both clinical and pre-clinical researchers. Clinical, epidemiological and laboratory-based research is carried out by senior researchers, post-docs and PhD-students. The research is performed in close cooperation with Region Skåne, the regional provider of public health care. The work is carried out at the facilities of Lund University and at Skåne University Hospital, Malmö.

Medical science within surgical research
Description of the project
The project investigates whether thyroid hormone metabolism affects survival following breast cancer. Serum samples and tumour tissue will be analysed in several ways. This information will subsequently be studied in relation to prognosis. The training emphasises study design and statistical analysis.
Work duties and responsibilities
The main tasks of a doctoral student are to devote themselves to their doctoral education and therefore you will be both admitted as a student and employed at Lund University.
A set of compulsory courses will be included, as well as a number of optional courses within the area. The main assignment is to conduct research supervised by senior members of the group. This includes formulation of aims, design of studies, collection of data, statistical analysis and writing of scientific papers.

About the employment
The position is a fixed-term position for a total of four years, 100% with a start date of 2026-02-01 or as agreed. The main rule is that employment at Lund University is conducted in Sweden, so you are expected to be able to perform your work on site in Malmö.
