Description of the workplace
The School of Social Work has been part of Lund University since 1977 but began educating students in social work as early as 1947. We have been conducting research since 1984, focusing on issues related to social problems, their definitions, origins, causes, and solutions; the conditions and living circumstances of vulnerable groups and individuals; and society's interventions in the living conditions of individuals and groups. We analyze welfare policy and social policy measures, human services organizations, and professions. The School of Social Work offers a number of programs and courses at the undergraduate, advanced, and research levels. The social work program has approximately 1,200 students and is offered in parallel at the Lund and Helsingborg campuses.

Duties and responsibilities
The duties include teaching, research, and collaboration with the surrounding community. The duties mainly consist of teaching, supervision, and examination at the basic and advanced levels within the social work program, master's program, and independent courses. The duties also include course administration, responsibility for pedagogical development work, collaboration both within and between courses, and active participation in research in social work. Teaching is mainly in Swedish, but also in English.

Qualifications
The eligibility requirements for employment as a senior lecturer are specified in Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in Lund University Appointment Rules.

To be eligible for employment as a senior lecturer, you must have a doctoral degree in social work or another social science subject, have a research profile with clear relevance to the position, have demonstrated teaching skills, and possess the personal qualities required to perform the job well. Applicants must also have completed at least 5 weeks of higher education teaching training (or equivalent).

Applicants must have a good ability to teach in Swedish/Scandinavian languages as well as in English.

Assessment criteria
Equally great attention is paid to the assessment of pedagogical skills as to scientific skills. Administrative and other relevant skills are also assessed. It is meritorious to anchor in the subject of social work, for example through teaching experience in social work and/or work experience in practical social work.

When assessing scientific skills, publications of high scientific quality shall be taken into account in the first instance, as well as scientific progression over the past five years. The depth and breadth of the research shall also be taken into account. Furthermore, the ability to initiate, plan, lead, and develop research, as well as the ability to obtain competitive research funding, shall be taken into account. The same applies to the ability to interact within and between disciplines and with the surrounding community.

When assessing pedagogical skills, quality should be the primary consideration, but scope, breadth, and depth should also be taken into account. Pedagogical skills should be well documented so that quality can also be assessed. Documented experience of pedagogical leadership in terms of initiating, planning, leading, developing, and implementing teaching should be given particular weight.

Suitability to perform the job well is a requirement. Particular importance is attached to the qualities required to collaborate with others both internally and externally and to actively promote the development of both education and research at the department. It is of great importance that the applicant is assessed as having good prospects of performing and developing the relevant duties and contributing to the positive development of the department.

When hiring teachers at Lund University, in addition to the provisions of the Higher Education Ordinance and Lund University Appointment Rules, the Appointment Rules and General Instructions for the Employment of Teachers at the Faculty of Social Sciences (in Swedish) also apply. Applicants are advised to read these instructions.
