At the Division of Engineering Geology, we work with education and research with a focus on methods for determining the properties of geological materials, groundwater and infrastructure structures, as well as their characterisation and condition assessment. We develop and use methods for geophysics and non-destructive testing, as well as sampling, tests and measurements on the ground surface, in water and in boreholes. The division has extensive equipment for and experience in field investigation, mainly with non-destructive testing, various geophysical methods, core drilling (the national resource Riksriggen) and hydraulic tests. An important part of the activities is signal processing and interpretation methods for measurement data, including inverse numerical modelling for determining material properties and integrated interpretation of different types of data.
We have a total of about 20 employees at the division, which is located in the V building, LTH. Approximately half of the employees are senior researchers and teachers, while the rest are doctoral students, technicians and administrators. Research and development activities are primarily financed through grants from the major Swedish research councils and foundations related to construction and civil engineering as well as environmental and energy issues.
You will work in support of research and development of measuring instruments for DCIP (Direct Current resistivity and Induced Polarisation tomography). The work will mainly be carried out at our electronics workplace but may also include measurement experiments in the field. You will plan and carry out the work together with researchers and development engineers but need to have the ability to work independently and take initiative. When the work is carried out is flexible but needs to be coordinated so that you can receive support and supervision.
