Description of the workplace

The Endocrine cell differentiation research team at the Department of Laboratory Medicine within the Faculty of Medicine currently conducts research in pancreatic cancer and endocrine cell differentiation and is at the forefront of its field. At present, the research team is working on how Hox genes regulate cancer cell biology. You can read more about the project on our website: Endocrine Cell Differentiation and Function. The research team is led by Associate Professor Isabella Artner and includes 3 additional staff members. The group is international and comprises research, administration and technical staff. We are now looking for a driven and experienced researcher in cancer biology to support the project. Work duties and areas of responsibility

The research assignment consists in you independently conducting analysis and validation of transcriptomics of pancreatic cancer cells, under the leadership of the project manager. The analysis includes cell culture, gene expression analysis, histology and working with animal models. The work duties also comprise data analysis, FACS, ChIPseq and immunohistochemistry. You will also publish articles in research journals, contribute to conferences and assist in the other work duties that the above-mentioned research project entails.

Qualifications
Requirements for employment are:

- A doctoral degree in Developmental Biology or a related field
- Experience of research in pancreatic cancer biology
- Experience of analyzing transcriptomics of cancer cells, including functional validation, working with relevant cell culture systems, molecular biology
- Experience of working with animal models
- The ability to conduct independent research at an advanced level
- Very good knowledge of English
- Good analytical ability, drive and a good ability to collaborate

Additional qualifications for the position are:

- Experience of dissection and histological analysis of animal models
- Previous experience of research with similar projects

The position is a fixed-term appointment for 2 years, with the possibility of extension up to 3 years, start date of 2026-03-01 or as agreed upon.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a postdoctoral position, the applicant must have obtained a doctoral degree, or a foreign degree deemed equivalent, in a subject relevant to the position (i.e., biology, biomedicine, medicine, chemistry). The degree must have been awarded no more than three years before the date of the employment decision. Exceptions may be made if there are special circumstances.
