Description of the Workplace
The research is conducted at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University, under the leadership of Professor Sandra Lindstedt. The work has a clear clinical and translational focus, centered on lung transplantation and the development and evaluation of advanced therapies for lung diseases, including advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs). The research group is part of the Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine (WCMM) and the Lund Stem Cell Center, and provides an international, inclusive, and sustainable research environment with strong opportunities for collaboration and skills development. The work is carried out in modern research setting with access to state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment, enabling advanced experimental and analytical methods.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
We are looking for a person to work on the following tasks:

• Support the development of MSC-based ATMPs by establishing and performing standardized quality-control assays (e.g., identity, viability, purity, and function).
• Carry out MSC cell culture, including optimization of culture conditions, passaging, cryopreservation, and sample handling.
• Perform molecular and cellular characterization, process data, and compile and document results.
• Contribute to method development and protocol optimization, including preparation/updating of SOPs and traceable documentation related to ATMP activities.
• Participate in translational studies involving mouse and pig models of lung transplantation and acute lung disease, including relevant sampling and analyses in collaboration with the research team.
• Support day-to-day laboratory operations (planning, materials/logistics) and contribute to a safe, well-organized, and inclusive working environment.

Other related duties may also be included.

Qualifications
Necessary qualifications for the job:

• Bachelor's degree (equivalent to a Bachelor of Science) in molecular biology, biotechnology, or a related field.
• Documented laboratory experience in ATMP-related work and/or cell and molecular biology, including cell culture (primary cells and/or cell lines).
• Experience with standardized assays relevant to quality control in cell-based projects, e.g., viability, cell phenotype/identity, and basic functional assays.
• Proven ability to work with structured documentation, data handling, and sample traceability, and to follow established protocols/SOPs.
• Ability to work carefully and independently, with strong collaboration and communication skills.

Meritorious are:

• Training/education in stem cell biology, immunology, and/or regenerative medicine.
• Desirable qualifications - experience and skills
• Experience with flow cytometry, qPCR, ELISA and/or immunostaining/microscopy as part of cell characterization and quality control.
• Experience in method development, protocol optimization, and drafting/updating SOPs.
• Experience with preclinical work or sample handling related to mouse models and/or pig models, preferably in lung/transplantation-related research.
• Experience working within a quality management system or a GMP-adjacent environment (e.g., batch documentation, material traceability, and deviation handling).
• Very good ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken, including scientific writing and presentations.

Other information
The position is a fixed-term employment according to the Special Fixed-term Employment (SÄVA) regulations §5 p1 LAS, and it is full-time. The desired start date is 2026-02-16 or as agreed upon, with an end date of 2027-02-12.
