Description of workplace
At the research group Clinical Memory Research, Department of Clinical Sciences Malmö, we do cutting-edge research on biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases, such as Lewy body dementia and Parkinson’s disease. The research, which has gained international recognition through the BioFINDER projects, has for several years been at the forefront in the field of fluid‑based biomarkers and brain imaging, enabling early and accurate detection, diagnosis, and prognosis of disease. The group is led by Professor Oskar Hansson and Deputy Group Leader Associate Professor Niklas Mattsson‑Carlgren and consists of research and technical/administrative staff. The workplace is located at the Biomedical Center (BMC) in Lund. We collaborate closely with the Memory Clinic at Skåne University Hospital in Malmö, where several of our researchers also work clinically. You can read more about our exciting research here

Work duties and responsibilities
We have recently shown in internationally cited studies that a simple blood sample can accurately diagnose Alzheimer’s disease and detect the presence of Parkinson‑related pathology via analysis of cerebrospinal fluid and skin biopsy. Moving forward, we will continue building on these and other scientific advances to remain one of the world‑leading research groups in the field. The position offers the opportunity to work on several of our studies focusing on Alzheimer’s disease, in close collaboration with researchers. The primary workplace is in Lund, but work in Malmö may occur.

As a laboratory assistant, you will be responsible for sample handling and analyses in our large cohort studies, which include thousands of samples. Statistical analyses, writing of reports and scientific articles, and other tasks within the research group may also be relevant. Together with other research staff, you plan your tasks based on the current workplace needs and your competence.
