About the workplace
Diagnostic Radiology at the department of Transitional Medicine conducts research related to medical imaging diagnostics. LUCI (Lund University breast Cancer Imaging) is a cross-disciplinary group lead by Professor Sophia Zackrisson, with a main research interest in innovative imaging modalities and methods in breast cancer diagnostics, focusing on screening and the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Works tasks and responsibilities
As a project assistant in the LUCI-group you will assist the group’s researcher with handling and using breast cancer imaging research databases and related data and IT-infrastructure. The main aim is to implement Large Language Model-solutions for creating structured reports from free text clinical reports and linking those to image information. You will also support the group with related programming tasks related primarily to machine learning applications.

Other related tasks could also be part of the position. Frequent interaction, documentation and feedback is important.

Qualifications
The position requires:

• Master- or bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Documented programming skills, especially in Python and other relevant programming languages
• Experience of training and using Large Language Models (LLMs) on medical registry data, especially in breast cancer and breast imaging High-level
• English language proficiency, written and oral
• Experience of working in and administrating Windows and Unix-based operating systems (primarily Ubuntu)
• The ability to cooperate with others and to be communicative and structured. Social skills are important for the position.

About the position
This is a special fixed-term position (SÄVA) of 12 months, 100 % of full time. Preliminary starting date is June 1 2026, or according to agreement.
