Description of the workplace

Associate Professor Marcus Järås’ research group at the Division of Clinical Genetics conducts translational research in immuno-oncology and is currently seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to strengthen the group. The successful candidate will primarily work on in vivo gene therapy projects involving CAR-macrophages as a novel treatment strategy for leukemia. The postdoctoral fellow will work in close collaboration with a biomedical scientist, an assistant researcher, and two PhD students. In addition, the postdoctoral fellow will be part of the Division of Clinical Genetics, which comprises ten research groups, as well as the Lund Stem Cell Center. Work duties and areas of responsibility

You will have primary responsibility for the development and evaluation of an in vivo gene therapy approach based on CAR-macrophages. The work will include DNA cloning, functional in vitro assays, and studies using an AML PDX mouse model established within the research group.

Qualifications

You have experience working with functional in vitro and in vivo assays. Experience in the following areas will be considered an additional qualification:

Lentiviral vectors Cancer research Immunology research Sequencing technologies Cell culture Bioinformatics DNA cloning Single-cell assays

Requirements for employment are:

  • Experience in work with laboratory animals
  • Experience with cell culture
  • A PhD degree in a relevant field

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, the applicant must hold a PhD degree or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a PhD in a subject area relevant to the position (i.e. biology, biomedicine, medicine, or chemistry). The degree must have been awarded no more than three years prior to the date of the employment decision. In special circumstances, the degree may have been awarded earlier.

Further information

The position is a full-time fixed-term appointment for two years, starting 1 September 2026 or as agreed. There may be a possibility to extend the employment by an additional year. Interviews will be conducted either on-site in Lund or via Zoom, beginning on June 15, 2026.
