Teaching assistant at the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Econoimcs

The International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) is an international and interdisciplinary centre of excellence at Lund University. We advance knowledge on how to catalyse the transition to low-carbon and resource efficient economies across different levels of governance and management. We conduct research across the themes of international and national policy intervention, urban governance and experimentation, business management and practice, and consumption governance. We offer Master’s education on the topic of Environmental Management and Policy.

IIIEE is now looking for a teaching assistants on 8-10% employment for a 10-12 month period.

This position is for assistance with communication and administration of the Product Lifetimes and Environment (PLATE) consortium events, in particular the 7th Product Lifetimes and the Environment (PLATE) conference, taking place 21–24 June 2027 at IIIEE. PLATE is an international, interdisciplinary conference addressing product lifetimes in the context of sustainable development. More information: https://www.plateconference.org

Work duties

The duties includes:

• Administration: Supporting conference logistics and communication with participants and speakers, preparation of conference materials, updating the conference website, preparing newsletters, managing social media channels, and on-site event management.
• Participation in research: Supporting the compilation and organisation of conference proceedings and contributing to post-conference reporting and dissemination of results, including as educational materials for IIIEE/LU students.

Qualification requirements

Only those admitted to first or second-cycle courses and study programmes at the faculty may be employed as teaching assistants.

Required qualifications:

• Admitted to relevant first or second-cycle courses where product lifetimes and the environment are a key focus
• Ongoing MSc in Environmental Management and Policy at IIIEE
• Excellent oral and written proficiency in English  
• Experience with developing communication strategies and plans
• Experience developing and writing communications content, including messaging development and interviewing stakeholders
• Experience publishing promotional content on digital marketing channels, including web, email, and social media (i.e., LinkedIn)
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in both onsite and remote work environments and with an international team
• Demonstrated knowledge of, or interest in, product lifetimes, circular economy, and sustainability topics (should be connected to studies)
• Experience with event or conference organizationTechnical experience with digital marketing and communication channels and tools (i.e., websites , email, customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, search engine optimization (SEO), etc.)

Additional requirements:

• Technical experience with digital tools for event management (i.e., registration systems)
• Experience developing and writing communications content, including messaging development and interviewing stakeholders
• Flexible attitude and openness to learning new skills
• Professional experience working with senior leadership
• Previous experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar support role

Further information

The position is a fixed term position for 10-12 months at 8-10 per cent of full time.
A Teaching Assistant position may be no more than 50% of full-time employment and may be limited to a maximum of one year, with a total maximum of three years. The employment must not affect studies in a negative way.
The employment as a Teaching Assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), 5 chapter 8-12 §§.
