Description of the workplace 
The Center for Translational Genomics (CTG; https://www.ctg.lu.se/) is an open core facility at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University, specialized in providing expertise and services in advanced Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)-based technologies, aiming to enable groundbreaking and innovative research in molecular life sciences.
CTG is a part of the Clinical Genomics platform at SciLifeLab (https://www.scilifelab.se). The Clinical Genomics platform offers state-of-the-art genomics-based services (e.g. novel single-cell applications) to translational and clinical researchers across Sweden as a whole and promotes rapid translation of new research findings into clinical utility.

Work duties and areas of responsibility 
You will become a part of a highly dedicated and experienced team, which provides service to research projects in need of different NGS-based methods, including DNA, RNA and single-cell sequencing, as well as spatial analysis.
You will work with a project focused on establishing a method for high-throughput single-cell WGS of microbial genomes and support routine laboratory operations. The role will be shared 50% for project work and 50% laboratory assistance.
The main tasks include:

  • Project work on establishing a new single-cell whole genome sequencing method
  • project planning and execution of established protocols within CTG's standard service portfolio, including sequencing on Illumina platform (e.g. on the NextSeq 2000 and NovaSeq X plus).
  • Documenting laboratory workflows, e.g. writing protocols for new methods and participating in continuous improvement of existing methods
  • Perform routine laboratory equipment and laboratory maintenance
  • Various administrative tasks, e.g. ordering reagents and laboratory accessories

Qualifications
The requirements for the position are:

  • A degree in biomedical analysis, molecular biology, biomedicine, or a related field (Bachelor’s or Master’s level)
  • At least 6–12 months of practical laboratory experience, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, or NGS workflow
  • Minimum 6–12 months of hands-on experience working with cell lines and primary cell cultures.
  • Strong theoretical understanding and/or practical experience with the Illumina sequencing platform
  • Proven ability to rapidly learn new methods and independently establish laboratory protocols
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. You must have a good ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new methods and establish new protocols. You must also have excellent communication and collaboration skills as well as be able to conduct your work independently and with high quality while meeting set deadlines. Finally, you must demonstrate excellent planning, organizational and prioritization skills.

Additional merits for the position are:

  • Experience in single cell sequencing (e.g. based on the 10X Genomics platform)
  • Experience with data analysis for single-cell projects
  • Experience in working with liquid handling systems for automation of laboratory protocols
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Swedish

Further information
This is a fixed-term employment (SÄVA – special fixed-term employment) at 100% for 12 months. Preferred start date is August 1, 2026, or as agreed.
Interviews will be held in our offices at BMC D14 (or D15) in Lund, earliest from week 26 or according to agreement.
