Description of the workplace

We are looking for a motivated project assistant to join a newly established research group at Faculty of Medicine and MultiPark at Lund University. Our research aims to uncover how microglia dynamically modulate neural circuits to shape memory formation and extinction across health, psychiatric disorders (e.g., anxiety and fear disorders), and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. The successful candidate will work at the interface of circuit neuroscience and microglial biology, using cutting-edge methodologies including: two-photon microscopy, chemogenetics, behavioral phenotyping and transcriptomics.

Work tasks and responsibilities 

Conduct research project under supervision of lab head Perform in vivo microglia imaging and mouse behavioral experiments Analyze neuronal and microglial activity datasets (e.g., calcium imaging) Conduct immunohistochemistry and morphological analysis of microglia and neurons Have the opportunity to continue scientific career path in the lab

Essential requirements

Master of Science in neurobiology Hands-on experience with in vivo imaging (either neurons or glia) Experience with microglia biology Behavioral experiments Solid data analysis skills Evidence of conducting mouse experiments and surgeries RNA sequencing and analysis
