The PhD position is placed within the multidisciplinary project Social interaction with autonomous artefacts in cognitive science and theoretical philosophy and tied to the Cognitive Robotics Lab and CogComLab. The project aims to develop sustainable, reliable, humane, and inclusive models of interaction between human and artefact within the perspective of embodied and embedded cognition. It examines dynamic and developmental aspects of human-artefact interaction and the underlying mechanisms to clarify the function and influence of such interaction on human behaviour and forms of life.

The PhD project will investigate ecologically, socially, culturally, and existentially sustainable interaction between human and artefact, by combining knowledge and skills in cognitive modelling, philosophy, and cognitive science, and using our humanoid robot platform Epi (https://www.lucs.lu.se/epi/).

The project is part of the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program -- Humanities and Society (WASP-HS), financed by the Wallenberg Foundations. WASP-HS aims to realize excellent research and develop competence on the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence and autonomous systems with a strong investment on research in humanities and social science.
