The Industrial Relations Office (IRO) Team is responsible for assisting industrial users and are actively promoting the facility towards different industries together with our collaboration partners, such as universities, mediator companies, and institutes. We are working closely with the User Office Team in creating the best experience possible for a visiting user. The group consists of four Industrial Relations Officers with support from the administration group.

Tasks

As a science communications officer with an industrial engagement focus, you will be an integral part of our industrial outreach and engagement efforts and support the IRO team in its communication efforts tailored to meet the needs of our industrial users. You will produce and publish communications material explaining opportunities with our technologies as well as key scientific findings that are of relevance for our industrial stakeholders.  This includes dissemination of research findings and participation in outreach activities targeting industry leaders, decision-makers, and potential industrial users that are not yet familiar with synchrotron light and its benefits.

You will work within the MAXESS Industry Arena platform to produce industry-relevant cases and easily accessible technology descriptions that are inspiring and educational. Communications formats will include text, photos, videos, and infographics. Your tasks will also include keeping our web platforms and social media channels updated with new content and our internal communications portfolio stocked with PowerPoint slides.

Qualifications

As a person, you are outgoing, convincing, and pay attention to details. You have a certain entrepreneurial spirit and you know how to drive ideas and projects from start to finish. You are easy-going, enjoy working in a diverse, international, and multidisciplinary environment and you enjoy explaining science in both written and spoken form. You are capable of tailoring your messages to diverse audiences that range from high school students to senior citizens as well as politicians and other key opinion leaders.

You have a keen interest in science in general and science communication specifically and you keep up to date on the latest trends and tools in science communication. Your ability to have close cooperation with staff and users at the laboratory is essential to ensure the highest possible efficiency in our communication activities.

Qualifications necessary:

  • University degree in Science or Engineering with a proven work experience as a communicator.
    Or a
  • University degree in Communications with a proven record and experience in scientific communication.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken. Fluency in Swedish is a merit.
  • Up to date with modern digital communications tools as well as working with social media. Video production and/or illustration is a definite merit.
  • Proven experience in communicating complex science in a pedagogic way that is tailored to different audiences and stakeholders.
