The Department of Psychology is announcing a PhD position (100%) within the research project "AI Support in Clinical Psychology.” The project focuses on developing and implementing generative AI to assess and treat mental health in clinical settings. The aim is to increase diagnostic accuracy, improve treatment outcomes, and reduce administrative burden for mental health professionals. The project is led by Sverker Sikström (Lund University) and Axel Carlsson (Karolinska Institutet).

Work duties and responsibilities
The position involves the development of AI tools for the assessment and treatment of mental health, as well as the implementation of these tools in clinical contexts.
Eligibility
Students with basic eligibility for third-cycle studies are those who- have completed a second-cycle degree- have completed courses of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are from second-cycle courses, or- have acquired largely equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad.
The employment of doctoral students is regulated in the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhD-studies shall primarily be taken into account. In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.
Applicants with experience in developing and implementing AI tools for clinical psychology are particularly encouraged to apply.
Application
Applications are to be submitted through Lund University's recruitment system. The application should include a CV and documented experience with generative AI development in mental health. Any scientific publications should also be included. As part of your application, you must attach a short project plan (maximum 3 pages excluding references) describing how you intend to contribute to the research area within the scope of the project. The plan should include purpose, research questions, methodology, theoretical framework (if applicable), and reflections on the project’s feasibility. The plan will be used to assess your analytical and independent research abilities.
Terms of employment
The position is a time-limited employment of four years in accordance with Chapter 5, Section 7 of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance.
