We are a group that tries to replace ruthenium with iron in dyes for applications in solar cells for hydrogen production and production. We are now seeking a PhD student for the hydrogen part of the Project.

Work duties

Design, synthesis and characterization of iron-based metal complexes based on, for example, N-heterocyclic carbene ligands. In synthesis, modern methods such as microwave synthesis will be used. Characterization will be done with advanced analytical methods such as nuclear magnetic spectroscopy. Studies on the ability of metal complexes to produce hydrogen gas photocatalytically from water will be performed. Responsibilities assigned within the department as responsibilities for certain instruments may be included.

Qulifications

Academic basic degree with at least 120 credits in chemistry, of which 30 credits in organic chemistry. Great emphasis will be
placed on written and oral presentation in English, the ability to work structured and independently and to be able to document
obtained results well. Solid experience in organic-inorganic-chemical synthesis work (both practical and theoretical).
Extensive knowledge of organometallic chemistry (both practical and theoretical).
Desirable
Knowledge in photophysics andphotoelectrochemical cells for the production of electricity and / or fuel is a merit.
Good collaboration and experience of working in groups with different competences

Eligibility
Students with basic eligibility for third-cycle studies are those who- have completed a second-cycle degree- have completed courses of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are from second-cycle courses, or- have acquired largely equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad.

The employment of doctoral students is regulated in the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhD-studies shall primarily be taken into account. In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.
