This position is connected to the Energimyndigheten funded research project: "Navigating Justice Claims: Between Riots, Strikes and Business as Usual". The project uses a mix of moral and political philosophy as well as social science qualitative research methods with a focus on Sweden, Germany and South Africa.

Job assignments
The researcher to be hired is expected to contribute to the projects in three main aspects: Firstly, carry out qualitative research on energy justice in the transport sector in Sweden using methods such as interviews and policy analysis. This is expected to result in a paper on decarbonisation of the transport sector in Sweden. Secondly, the researcher will be expected to contribute one research idea that can be developed into a journal article on a topic related to navigating justice claims in the low carbon transition in Sweden. Within this second task, the researcher will have extensive freedom to decide on research issues, develop theoretical ideas and choose research methods. The researcher is also expected to contribute to other tasks in relation to the projects including research, publications, research grant applications and administrative tasks related to the project.

Qualifications and assessment
To be appointed as a researcher requires a PhD degree at the date of appointment in a field of relevance to the position, i.e. human ecology, sustainability science, other relevant social science or humanities disciplines or interdisciplinary research.The PhD should have been awarded not more than three years prior to applying. You are expected to have qualitative research experience in human geography or within a related field such as energy or transport studies.

The basis for assessment is the ability to develop and conduct high quality research. The applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • Documented research expertise through the quality of their thesis and/or other publications.
  • Methodological qualifications and experience with qualitative research methods including interviews
  • Fluent English and Swedish (written and spoken) is a requirement.
