Your team
The Communications Group at MAX IV at MAX IV consists of a Head of Communications, two communications officers and a webmaster. The group is responsible for supporting both internal and external communication with tasks such as news reporting, social media presence, newsletters, maintenance and development of maxiv.se, and outreach to schools and the public.

MAX IV are looking for  a Science Communications Officer

Your main responsibility will be to support staff and users by producing and disseminating scientific results from MAX IV. You will write news stories about recent scientific results, social media posts about user experiments, as well as produce short videos and photos. Your target groups are the public, decision-makers and potential users who are not yet familiar with synchrotron light and its benefits. You will also assist the webmaster in the work of developing and maintaining the external and internal websites.

Your main work tasks will be

  • Write news stories about recent scientific results.
  • Produce content for the MAX IV social media channels.
  • Produce video and photos.
  • Graphic design and illustration.
  • Assist the webmaster with developing and maintaining the external and internal websites.

To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

  • University degree in Communications or other relevant experience in the field of communication.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
  • At least limited working proficiency in Swedish, written and spoken.
  • Proven experience with social media, WordPress and Adobe CC.
  • Proven experience in communicating complex science in a pedagogical way tailored to different audiences.
  • Proven experience as a writer.


Below are seen as merits

  • Experience in UX design.
  • Experience with video making and/or photography.
  • Experience in organizing complex processes and projects.
  • Work experience in a synchrotron radiation laboratory.
  • Experience with graphic design and/or illustration.
