Description of the workplace

You will be working at the department of Electrical and Information Technology (EIT), and primary in the divisions of Communications engineering and Integrated electronic systems. These two divisions are closely working together to develop the next generation wireless systems, from theory to practice. 

The Department of Electrical and Information Technology at The Faculty of Engineering, LTH, Lund University is one of the larger departments with around 120 employees. The department consists of four divisions and a group of technical and administrative staff. We are situated in the E-building at LTH’s campus in the north of Lund, but we also have teaching activities at campus Helsingborg. 

Work duties

As teaching assistant your duties can vary, and the tasks should give an insight into the academic world at the faculty where you conduct studies. 

You will be participating in SSF-CHI project “Large Intelligent Surfaces – Architecture and Hardware” and the tasks include participation in research projects.

More specifically, the work duties include hardware implementation of MIMO processing algorithms and the software implementation of PYNQ framework. The area is effective hardware implementations for 6G wireless communication, including massive MIMO and Large Intelligent Surfaces. Targeted platforms include Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and software-defined radios (SDR).

Qualification requirements

Only those admitted to first or second-cycle courses and study programmes at the faculty may be employed as project assistants. 

Required qualifications:

  • Admitted to (relevant) first or second-cycle courses at the department of Electrical and Information Technology.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English. 
  • Knowledge in hardware (e.g., FPGA, RFSoC) implementation of digital signal processing algorithms.

Additional requirements:

  • Experience with development tools for digital platforms (especially Zynq FPGA).
  • Experience with development tools and language for FPGA implementation, e.g., Vivado, Python, VHDL/Verilog.

Further information

The position is a fixed term position for the period March 4, 2024-March 4, 2025, or according to agreement, at 20 per cent of full time. The employment as a Teaching Assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), 5 chapter 8-12 §§. Regarding working hours, the position is covered by the flexitime agreement for the technical and administrative staff.
