The International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) is an international and interdisciplinary centre of excellence at Lund University. We advance knowledge on how to catalyse the transition to low-carbon and resource efficient economies across different levels of governance and management. We conduct research across the themes of international and national policy intervention, urban governance and experimentation, business management and practice, and consumption governance. We offer Master’s education on the topic of Environmental Management and Policy.

 

Subject description

The work will be carried out within the project "Resistans och Effekt – om smarta elnät för de många människorna” which is funded by Familjen Kamprads stiftelse and “Women in Power” which is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency. The position includes conducting high quality research, publishing in international scientific journals, providing relevant feedback and recommendations to society, as well as organizing and participating in events within the framework of the projects.

 

Work duties

At Lund University, a postdoctoral position should provide opportunities for both scientific and pedagogical development. Primarily, it offers scope for research qualifications, but also includes opportunities for training in higher education pedagogy. Teaching may also be included among the duties.

 

The position includes comparative case studies involving interviews and participatory observations in both Sweden and Finland. It also includes to actively contribute to the development of smart grids for the many people in Sweden and to improve gender equity in the energy sector by providing policy-relevant recommendations based on existing research, and organize and participate in events within the frames of the project.

 

The candidate is expected to teach in English in the Masters programmes run by the IIIEE. The candidate is also expected to get involved in research funding proposals.

Administration related to the work duties listed above also needs to be carried out.

 

Qualification requirements

  • PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position. The doctoral degree must be completed at the latest at the time of the recruitment decision
  • Good ability to develop and conduct research of good quality.
  • Pedagogical ability.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in Swedish.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in Finnish.
  • Documented experience from qualitative research related to the smart grid, energy communites and gender

 

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

Priority will be given to applicants who have graduated no more than three years before the closing date for the application.

The assessment of applicants will be based primarily on their scientific merit and potential as researchers. Particular emphasis will be placed on scientific ability in the subject area.

Other merits are:

  • Documented experience of working interdisciplinary
  • Documented skills in publishing in academic journals
  • Proven ability to independently conduct high-quality research and successfully complete scientific projects
  • Proven ability to collaborate in projects and co-author publications
  • Documented educational skills including supervision of masters students
  • Documented experience from working with social media such as a blog

Consideration will also be given to strong collaborative skills, initiative and independence, as well as how the applicant’s experience and expertise complement and strengthen the department’s ongoing research and contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment

The position is limited in time to at least two years, maximum three years according to the collective agreement on fixed-term employment as a postdoctoral researcher (the Swedish Employers' Agency). A postdoctoral position is intended as an initial step in your career and as an opportunity to further deepen and broaden your research expertise.
