Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top universities. The University has around 47 000 students and more than 8 800 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

Post-doctoral position in computational protein design

The André lab at the department of chemistry combines computational and experimental methods to understand the structure, interactions and evolution of proteins. A fundamental goal is to encode our understanding of proteins into computational and experimental methods that enables the design self-assembling protein systems. We also want to understand the process of self-assembly by inferring self-assembly pathways from simulated protein structures and time-resolved experimental data. More information is found at www.andrelab.org

Project

A postdoc position is announced in a project funded by European Research Council (ERC) targeted at development of new computational and experimental methods for de novo design homomeric protein assemblies. The postdoc will develop computational methods to design protein complexes, primarily focusing on building new approaches for applying methods in computational analysis of protein geometry to protein design. The work will also involve some development of structure-based design methods in the context of the Rosetta macromolecular modeling package, see www.rosettacommons.org for more information. The postdoc may participate in supervision of graduate and undergraduate students.

Required qualifications:

  • The applicants should have a PhD or equivalent biophysical chemistry, bioinformatics or other relevant fields.
  • Experience with computational analysis of geometry of proteins
  • Substantial experience with protein simulation
  • Should have significant experience of developing programs or advanced analysis scripts to analyze protein structure.

The candidate should be able to independently lead the work in this project and interact smoothly and efficiently with the other members of the team with different backgrounds. As reporting in peer review journals is an essential part of the project, a strong publication record is required. The candidate must also be fluent in English (written and spoken).
