Work assignments
The candidate will work independently within the magnetic resonance physics group in collaboration with clinical scientists from neurosurgery and neuroradiology. The work will include

1) analysis of MRI data acquired on a 7T MRI scanner to understand brain damage in neurological disorders (traumatic brain injury and systemic lupus erythematosus). The data include a diverse set of acquisitions including diffusion MRI, task and resting state fMRI, data for quantitative susceptibility mapping, and spectroscopy.

The successful candidate will use neuroimaging data to understand the pathological process in neurological disorders. The candidate will develop, implement and refine data analysis pipelines and apply these to existing data acquired in patients with neurological disorders.

2) The candidate is also expected to contribute to refined 7T MRI acquisition methods collaborate with clinical PhD students, as well as present results on conferences and author scientific papers

Qualifications
PhD in magnetic resonance imaging, biostatistics, or equivalent.

MSc or BSc in biology, statistics, physics or equivalent.

Meritorious

  • Documented good knowledge of magnetic resonance imaging and associated data analysis.
  • Documented good working knowledge of programming in MATLAB, Python, and/or C/C++.
  • Documented experience of neuroimaging analysis in neurological disorders.
  • Documented experience of writing scientific articles in international journals (first author).
  • Fluent in English, written & spoken.
  • Previous international experience (doctoral or post doctoral level).

The applicant is expected to be ambitious and creative team worker with good communication skills.

Qualification requirements
Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the last date for applications. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications
This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in a career, and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers.

Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.

For appointments to a post-doctoral position, the following shall form the assessment criteria:

  • A good ability to develop and conduct high quality research.
  • Teaching skills.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of a maximum of 2 years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow”) between Lund University, SACO-S, OFR/S and SEKO, dated 4 September 2008.
