The Faculty of Social Sciences at Lund University is one of the leading education and research institutions in Sweden and operates both in Lund and Helsingborg.

The Department of Psychology combines education with research and has in recent years been very successful in the competition for external research funds. Central research areas include occupational and organizational psychology, clinical psychology, cognition, neuropsychology, personality and social psychology and developmental psychology.

Many of our courses are developed in connection with research projects, and students are given the opportunity to gain access to current research findings from teachers who themselves are active researchers in their respective areas. Our education environment has long been highly internationalized.

We are looking for two postdoc researchers with excellent research skills and a strong wish to contribute to our research environment.

The Department of Psychology is one of the larger departments at Lund University, with about 90 employees and over 1,300 full-time students. Researchers have close, high-quality collaborations with several faculties and research centres at Lund University as well as the surrounding society. There is also access to several brain imaging technologies, including a leading centre for MR technology. Research is also conducted in cooperation with the Lund University Humanities Lab. The department also has a long-term involvement in the Pufendorf Institute, which is Lund University’s centre for interdisciplinary studies.


The position involves individual research (80%) and teaching at all levels (20%).

Qualifications and assessment

To be appointed as a postdoc requires a PhD in psychology. The PhD is to have been obtained within the past three (3) years at the time of the application deadline (exceptions can be made only under special circumstances). The PhD requirement must be fulfilled at the time of application.
The basis for assessment is the ability to develop and conduct high quality research, as well as teaching skills.
Research expertise will be the primary focus of evaluation. The applicants must be able to demonstrate documented research expertise through the quality of their doctoral thesis and other publications. The applicants are to conduct research that clearly relates to the research in the department.

A research plan (maximum 4 pages) is to be attached to the application, showing what research the applicant intends to pursue, and how it relates to the research at the department.

The applications are assessed with regard to the following criteria: the relevance and strength of the research plan, and its links to the department’s research; the quality of the research output, and its links to the department’s research; other qualifications proving the applicant’s research skills and teaching expertise. It is also important that applicants intend to be physically located in Lund so that they can contribute to the department’s research environment.

A postdoc fellowship is a career development position specialising in research, and is to be an initial step in the applicant’s career.
Please note that a person who has previously been employed as a postdoc at Lund University for more than a year cannot be employed as a postdoc again within the same or similar subject at the University.
