The Division for Higher Education Development (AHU) is a unit of the Department of Educational Sciences, which is one of the departments at the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology. AHU’s mission is to contribute to the development of education on all levels at Lund University. AHU arranges courses for teachers and supervisors on different aspects of teaching and learning, and also conducts research in the field of higher education.

Lund University hereby announces a vacancy as:

Lecturer in Higher Education Development for an indefinite term based at the Division for Higher Education Development (AHU), Department of Educational Sciences.

Duties

The duties involved in the post include:

  • teaching within AHU’s courses on teaching and learning and engaging in educational development
  • providing support to teaching staff, doctoral students and other staff who are involved in teaching and education
  • development work related to the use of digital tools and resources within teaching, with a particular focus on video production and video usage
  • work within the system administration for the University’s common video service (currently LU Play/Kaltura) and the e-meeting service (currently Zoom).

Qualifications

A person shall be qualified for appointment as a lecturer if he or she has demonstrated teaching expertise, completed a second-cycle degree or acquired corresponding knowledge and has other skills of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve.

The following assessment criteria apply in the appointment of a lecturer in Higher Education Development:

  • good subject knowledge of relevance to the post and the duties that it will involve
  • good teaching ability including a good ability to develop and pursue educational activities on different levels and using a variety of teaching methods
  • very good professional experience or other experience of relevance to the post
  • basic training in teaching and learning in higher education, in accordance with the recommendations of the Association of Swedish Higher Education (SUHF) on outcomes and scope (10 weeks), or corresponding expertise acquired in some other way
  • advanced training in teaching and learning in higher education comprising 10 weeks, or corresponding expertise acquired in some other way.

Furthermore, specialised teaching expertise is also applicable, which entails:

  • an approach to the practice of teaching and learning in higher education that is based on colleagues’ (teaching staff) and students’ learning
  • very good ability to plan, teach, examine and evaluate higher education both within their own area of teaching (specialised subject didactics) and within the area of teaching and learning in higher education (more general subject didactics or expertise in teaching and learning in higher education)
  • ability to create a social and professional well-functioning educational practice with respectful relations with colleagues and students
  • development over time as regards to the applicant’s own educational practice
  • expertise in teaching and learning in higher education based on research on learning, teaching and education, as well as on relevant institutional conditions within higher education locally, nationally and internationally
  • a reflective approach to scholarship of teaching and learning and to core value issues such as inclusion, gender equality and equal opportunities
  • skills in leading, organising and reporting quality management and development work within teaching and learning in higher education
  • active participation in collegial exchange of experiences locally, nationally and/or internationally regarding higher education development.

All criteria must be fulfilled.

Special additional qualifications

  • Experience of training teaching staff in the use of digital tools in higher education.
  • Experience of producing films for teaching purposes.
  • Experience of teaching and conducting development work to increase accessibility and equal opportunities.
  • Experience of relevance for system administration.
  • Broad experience from different educational contexts within higher education.

The applicant is responsible for the application being complete and in accordance with the vacancy notice and instructions, and that everything is scanned (as two PDF files) and received by the University by the application deadline via the recruitment portal.

The Academic Appointments Board generally draws up a shortlist of candidates. These applicants are then asked to submit a maximum of five papers/publications each for assessment. Papers/publications in digital form cannot be used instead of printed versions.
