Job assignments

The holder will conduct research in the area of Labour Law connected to the project WorkYP – Working Yet Poor, financed by the European Union within the framework of the call Horizon 2020 - H2020-SC6-GOVERNANCE-2018-2019-2020 (Governance for the Future). In this regard, the Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to undertake the research tasks according to the above-mentioned project, which addresses in-work poverty and the role played by social partners in dealing with it.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work under the direction of Associate Professor Vincenzo Pietrogiovanni (Department of Business Law) and in coordination also with Senior Researcher Anna Missiaia (Department of Economic History).

The Postdoctoral Fellow will publish articles in scientific journals and contributions to conferences and assist in the above-mentioned Horizon 2020 project. The Postdoctoral Fellow will also cooperate with other researchers at the Department and is expected to interact with students and to actively participate in the common activities of the Department.

Qualifications and assessment

Scholarly proficiency is the main requirement for employment. Applicants must hold a PhD/LLD, preferably with a specialization in Labour Law and/or EU Law. Also other PhDs/LLDs in social sciences with a focus on Labour such as, for instance, Industrial Relations, Labour Economics, Sociology or Economic History, can be considered. However, priority will be given to applicants with a focus on the areas of Collective Labour Law.

The applicant shall be able to conduct independent research at a post-doctoral level, and have the linguistic skills to evolve in a multilingual environment: fluency in English is necessary, and a good understanding of Swedish (or any other Scandinavian language), in particular, would be considered an advantage. The Postdoctoral Fellow shall also be team-oriented.

Applications will also be accepted from persons who have not yet completed their PhD/LLD, but this condition must be satisfied at the time of employment.

The application must include a letter of motivation in which the applicants present their research statements on the matter of in-work poverty and labour law. In the evaluation of the applicants, their experience, knowledge and other personal qualities will be taken into consideration. The applicants’ ability to use their skills and experience to strengthen and supplement existing research activities within the School of Economics and Management will also be considered.

The employment will start on February 3, 2020, according to the Horizon 2020 project mentioned above.
