Requirements for admission
The requirements for admission to the PhD-programme and employment:
• A person meets the general admission requirements for third-cycle studies if he or she has been awarded a second-cycle qualification or has satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second cycle, or has acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.
• A person meets the specific admission requirements if he or she has satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 30 second-cycle credits in Social Work, or a corresponding qualification acquired in Sweden or abroad. Evaluation criteria of applications
The overriding selection criterion is the applicant’s ability to benefit from the PhD-programme and the capacity to independently and creatively conduct social science research. Applicants are evaluated based on study results, academic publications such as journal articles, books, book chapters, and research reports, the research plan and previous experience of participating in research activities. Merits should be substantiated. The possibilities of the department to provide applicants with adequate supervision and a research environment of high quality are also key criterion in the selection process.

Applicants are expected to attach a dissertation research plan of 4-5 pages (upload it under Other files). The plan should contain a formulation of the research problem, research questions, some comments on the literature within the research field, an outline of a study design and relevant methodological considerations. The plan should demonstrate one or more possible directions for the planned research of the applicant and provide a basis
for assessing the applicant's ability to identify potentially interesting questions and make relevant considerations about method in relation to planned research.

Evaluation is based on merits and documents submitted at the application deadline. Only complete applications will be considered.
