The position as research assistant is announced in the context of a FORMAS research project carried out at the Lund University Center for Sustainability Studies (LUCSUS), at the Faculty of Social Sciences. LUCSUS is a center for environmental and sustainability research that works with interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary issues.

The position is an administrative position assigned to LUCSUS.

Duties:

The research assistant will be employed within one or more research projects on future climate pathways and the political economy of negative emissions. The incumbent will be engaged in two tasks:

- The practical and academic organization of a European workshop on negative emissions, with a main target audience of European civil society organizations and environmental movements. The research assistant will be the main responsible for organization of the workshop, with a preliminary target date of October 2020.
- Carrying out specific research tasks on the politics of negative emissions, which can involve data collection, interviews, literature review and contributing to drafting reports and academic articles.


Requirements:

Candidates should have a completed Master degree in sustainability science, geography, environmental studies, political science, or similar field relevant to the working tasks for this position. Previous knowledge of climate politics and recent developments in climate change mitigation science and policy making is a requirement for this position, and needs to be documented by the supporting information submitted with the application. Knowledge of, or working experience with, negative emissions and energy system modelling will be treated as a strong advantage.

Candidates should be fluent in English and have a strong interest in carrying out research. They should be able to work independently and take initiative. Previous experience with organizing workshops or similar events is a meriting factor for this position.

This is a temporary position, starting mid January 2020 until end of December 2020, working on 50% of a full time equivalent.
