The position is located within the Department of Laboratory Medicine.

At the Department of Laboratory Medicine, we are conducting cutting edge research within the broad field of laboratory medicine, focusing on disease prevention, how diseases arise and how we can improve diagnosis and treatment of patients. Some of our strongest research areas are oncology, genetics, hematology, stem cell research as well as occupational and environmental medicine, clinical chemistry and pharmacology and microbiology.

In addition to this, we provide a comprehensive PhD program and are active as teaching staff in the undergraduate and graduate education – particularly within medicine and biomedicine. The department has a solid tradition of collaborations with the regional health care system and proximity to competence of infrastructure units available at Lund University, which ensures high expectations for the future.

Duties
The duties include research and development work, teaching and administration. The Senior Lecturer is expected to participate in teaching and supervision in basic courses, advanced courses, and postgraduate education. These duties may also be added to.

Eligibility
Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance states that a person shall be qualified for appointment as Senior Lecturer if he or she has demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or has corresponding research competence.

To be qualified the individual shall have completed at least five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means unless there are valid reasons. (Lund University's appointment rules)

Basis for assessment
The applicant is to have demonstrated research and teaching expertise of significance for the subjects and of relevance at the Department of Laboratory Medicine. In the assessment, special emphasis will be placed om research expertise.

The applicant is to have demonstrated research expertise by maintaining a good national and international standing as a researcher and have documented national and international networks. The holder should also have received research grants as principal applicant in national and international competition. Scientific development potential will be a factor in the assessment.

The applicant is to have demonstrated teaching expertise both within teaching and supervision i first, second and third cycle education. Documented ability to supervise doctoral student is an additional qualification.

The applicant should clarify how his or her scientific and pedagogical expertise can enrich and develop the research environment at the department of Laboratory Medicine.

The applicant is to demonstrate abilities in leadership, interaction with wider society and cooperation.

The successful candidate is to master the Swedish language within a three-year period to teach and communicate within the university.

The general qualification requirements for academic staff are being suited to and having the general ability required to complete the duties of the post well.
