The research group

The Experimental Oncology group at the Division of Translational Cancer Research, Lund University headed by Professor Kristian Pietras subscribes to the view that a tumor should be considered as a communicating organ in its own right, comprising multiple cell types that collectively evolve into a clinically manifested and deadly disease. Human tumors are heterogenous and harbor malignant cells with different proliferative and metastastic potential. However, less is known about the heterogeneity within the tumor microenvironment, although it is well established that the tumor stroma similarly influences the growth and progression of the cancer. Our integrated approach combines high resolution studies of basic biology with the use of disease-specific genetically engineered mouse models of cancer with proven translational capacity and exclusive clinical materials to interrogate the role of the microenvironment on cancer initiation, progression and resistance to therapy. The business is located at Medicon Village in Lund. Here you can read more about our exciting research.

Within the research group, we are constantly working to create the conditions for job satisfaction, development and participation for all employees.

We are hereby seeking a PhD student to come work in the research group. The employment is limited to four years full time according to central agreements with the desired start date of 1 May 2020 or by agreement.
