Job description
The holder of this position will be expected to conduct 80% research and 20% teaching for a duration of 18 months. The postdoctoral position is part of “The military as an 'agent of change' for gender-relations in post-conflict societies? Evidence from Liberia and Mali” (Gendered Militaries), a three year research roject funded by the Swedish Research Council and SIDA (the Swedish International Development Agency), with Associate Professor Lisa Strömbom as Principal Investigator. The purpose of “Gendered Militaries” is to critically examine how the military institution could function as an ‘agent of change’ in terms of gender relations in a post-conflict society, focusing on gender in military reform in Liberia and Mali. It has a specific focus on the intertwined processes of gender integration and gender mainstreaming in the post-conflict phase. The postdoctoral fellow will utilize and contribute with refinement of the conceptual building blocks of the study and conduct fieldwork in Mali in order to investigate gendered aspects of military reform there in general and the role of the military in Mali’s society in specific. For further information on the research project, see https://www.svet.lu.se/forskning/forskningsprojekt/the-military-as-an-agent-of-change-for-gender-relations-in-post-conflict-societies
