Reseach group

At the research groups for Cell, Tissue and Organ engineering and Human Neural Development, we study cellular heterogeneity in engineered stem cell-derived tissues, for both fundamental and translational applications. For several years, our research has been at the forefront of our 2 areas:miniaturized bone organs recapitulating the bone and blood functions in human, as well as human brain development and neural subtype specification using stem cells. The research groups are led by Paul Bourgine and Agnete Kirkeby and consist of both research and technical staff. The business is located at
the Biomedical Center in Lund. Here you can read more about our exciting research. (Www.bourginelab.com, https://www.wcmm.lu.se/research/wcmm-researchers, https://in.ku.dk/research/agnete-kirkeby /)

We are hereby looking for a driven assistant researcher to work with bioinformatic single cell RNAseq (scRNAseq) analysis from developing human skeletal and neural cells. The employment is full-time with the desired entry date on 2021-03-15 or by agreement. The employment is a general fixed-term employment for one year and 10 months.

Tasks

As an assistant researcher in our two research groups, you are responsible for bioinformatic single cell RNAseq (scRNAseq) analysis from developing human skeletal and neural cells. Your duties mainly include analysis of scRNAseq data from raw sequence reads to clustering and annotation as well as the development and integration of several algorithms (e.g. SCENIC, SPRING, Pseudotime, RNA velocity) towards studying cell/tissue subtype specification, lineage trajectories, cell differentiation/maturation. Integration of genomics, proteomics and spatial transcriptomics data will also be considered. Other existing tasks within the research group can also be current.

Requirements for employment:

• - Masters degree in bioinformatics, computer sciences or equivalent fields
• - PhD degree in bioinformatics, biology or biomedicine.
• - Experience from working in biology/life science projects
• - Experience in working with single cell RNA sequencing data, including development of algorithms for automated hierarchical clustering of cells
• - Experience in scientific publishing, from several first-authorship papers
• - Good English skills, oral and written

You will be working on projects together with other team members and we therefore expect experience in working in teams.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The tasks require you to be ambitious and thorough.

Merit for the employment:

 - a mixed undergraduate background with a BSc in biology/biomedicine/life science combined with a MSc in Bioinformatics/data science.
- Experience from several different research projects in different groups
- Experience in analysis of protein structure is a plus
