We coordinate the system science graduate program at the School of Economics, and offer independent courses and the inernational masters program in information systems.

Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM) announces one position as senior lecturer in informatics, specialising in information systems design in artificial intelligence (AI) and business intelligence (BI). The position is a full time permanent position and is placed at the Department of Informatics, Lund University School of Economics and Management.

Job description

The position includes teaching, supervision and research. Administrative tasks may also be included. Teaching is conducted at both undergraduate and graduate levels in Swedish and English. Teaching comprises a maximum of 70% of the position, and a minimum of 20% research and 10% administrative duties. However, the relative proportions of duties may change over time in line with recieving external research grants.

The department needs to strengthen research and education in the areas of design, development, implementation and evaluation of information systems, artificial intelligence (AI) and business intelligence (BI).

An important part of the work consists of collaboration, both nationally and internationally, with other departments and universities in the subject areas of informatics and information systems. The tasks also include participating in the work to ensure research funding. It is also important to be able to collaborate with companies and organisations, both nationally and internationally.

The applicant is expected to be in an active and productive phase of his/her academic career and thereby active within the international research in artificial intelligence and design of information systems. It is expected of a senior lecturer to produce high quality research and teaching in design of information systems in artificial intelligence and business intelligence at an international level.

Eligibility and competence

Those qualified for appointment as a Senior Lecturer are a person who has demonstrated teaching expertise and has been awarded a PhD holding a doctorate in Informatics or a nearby field (Higher Education Ordinance chap. 4, 4§). It is a requirement to have completed at least five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means.

To be qualified for the position, broad and deep experience and competence in artificial intelligence is required, as well as digitialisation and automation of business through design of IT-supported information systems. This includes experience and expertise in AI and BI technologies, databases, data warehouses, IoT, business modeling and business architecture. 

Experience of participating in international research projects, having successfully applied for external funding, experience of course responsibility at undergraduate and graduate level in educational programs in information systems, documented teaching experience of teaching in Swedish and English and documented doctoral supervisor experience are meritorious.

It is a requirement that the applicant must be able to teach in both Swedish and English.

Basis of assessment

The School of Economics and Management strives for a balance between research and education in all teacher positions. Therefore, in assessing the applicants, equal importance will be attached to scientific and pedagogical skills. Administrative capacity is also included in the assessment.

The overall assessment of the scientific skill, special emphasis is placed on having published in highly ranked international scientific journals and/or presented conference papers at highly ranked international conferences. The publications/conference presentations are to be in the fields of design of information systems in artificial intelligence.

The overall assessment of pedagogical qualifications includes training in higher education teaching and learning, pedagogical experience and pedagogical skills. Consideration will also be given to good co-operative ability, drive and independence and how the applicant, through his/her experience and competence, is expected to supplement and strengthen ongoing undergraduate and master's education as well as research and innovation within the department and contribute to its future development.

The Department of Informatics is a small department, why collegial interaction and the individual's efforts are of great importance. An important element of the employment will therefore be to actively participate in the work of the teaching body for further developing the departments’ educational programs and other activities.
