The research group

The research group is led by Sandra Lindstedt, and do their research, at plan 10 at Skånes University Hospital.

Work assignments

The holder of this position within the research group will be working on and participating in research studies. The research aim is to explore biomarkers in exhaled breath particles in patients with lung cancer and lung transplanted patients. Alongside research the position also includes participation in obligatory courses as a part of the applicants PhD studies. Biomarker analysis will be performed using mass spectrometry and antibody-based omics analysis on samples from exhaled breath particles, BAL, lung tissue and blood.

The position will include participation in national and international conferences.

Qualification requirements

  • master’s degree in Medicine, Biomedical Sciences or equivalent
  • experience of working in a clinical environment
  • experience of working with research in lung pathology and pulmonary biomarkers.
  • good written and verbal communication skills, including high proficiency in Swedish and English.

  • studies within bioinformatics and biostatistics
  • completed a Doctorate of Medicine with experience in patient contact.
  • experience with particle collection using PExA with patients in outpatient and intensive care.
  • experience of research involving animal models, specifically porcine models preferred.
  • hands-on experience of handling and dissection of lung tissue from laboratory animals.
  • experience with three-dimensional cell culturing systems, experience with precision-cut lung slices (PCLS) is highly advantageous
  • documented experience of working in a team-environment.
  • experience in project management and documented experience in planning and organization.

Eligibility
Students with basic eligibility for third-cycle studies are those who- have completed a second-cycle
degree- have completed courses of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are from second-cycle courses, or- have acquired largely equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad. The employment of doctoral students is regulated in the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhD-studies shall primarily be taken into account. In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.
