The Research Group

At the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Glycobiology (MIG), basic research is conducted in microbiology, immunology and glycobiology, as well as bridging research with clinical focus. Within the department is the research group Cancer Infection where we work on a new drug discovery that you can follow from molecular mechanisms and animal models to clinical trials. The lab has an international work environment and offers great opportunities to develop a scientific career. The group is led by senior professor Catharina Svanborg and professor Gabriela Godaly and consists of scientists and technical staff. The laboratory is located at the Biomedical Center in Lund. The research group is looking for an associate researcher to join our team. The employment is a permanent, part time position (25%), with the desired access date on July 1, 2021, or according to agreement.

Work duties and area of expertise

You will work both individually and in a team and proactively test project-related ideas. You also have the opportunity to mentor junior group members.

Qualifications

The position requires:

  • A doctorate in medicine / biomedicine or related area
  • Documented experience in cancer biology, genomics and proteomics
  • Documented experience and knowledge in being a mentor to younger group members
  • Excellent oral communication skills in English.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal characteristics. The assignments require that you have a good cooperative ability and that you have the ability to work independently.

The following are merits for the position:

  • A good publication record in peer-reviewed journals
  • An interest in translational medicine.
