Work duties

The work duties of the position comprise teaching and research in sociology of law in general, at all levels. The language of instruction is Swedish and English.

Qualifications

The qualification requirements for employment as a senior lecturer are stated in Chapter 4 Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in the appointment rules for teaching staff at Lund University (https://www.staff.lu.se/sites/staff.lu.se/files/lund-university-appointment-rules-2018.pdf).

The position requires a completed PhD in Sociology of Law, or equivalent documented research and teaching expertise as well as a documented ability to collaborate. Qualification required for appointment as a docent is mandatory for this position. The applicant is to be suitable for the position and to have the ability successfully to perform the duties associated with the position.
The research production during the last five years will be of particular importance.

Appointment as a senior lecturer requires at least five weeks’ training in teaching and learning in higher education or the acquisition of equivalent knowledge in some other way, unless special circumstances apply.

Assessment criteria

The assessment criteria for employment as a teaching staff member are stated in Chapter 4 Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. In the review of the applications, the following criteria will be taken into account.

A good national and international level as a researcher with special focus on ability to gain external research funding;

a good teaching ability, which means a good ability to conduct, develop and lead teaching and other educational activities on various levels and using various teaching methods;

ability to take part in the supervision of doctoral students in their work towards a doctoral degree;

ability to engage with wider society and to inform the public about one’s activities;

ability in general to develop and lead research activities;

a very good ability to collaborate

Non Scandinavian-speaking applicants are expected to acquire a knowledge of Swedish at the level required to fulfil ordinary work duties within education and administration within the first two years of employment. There are opportunities for Swedish language training within Lund University.
