Location

The position is located at the Division of ALM (archival studies, library and information studies and museum studies) and Digital Cultures, which is part of the Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences. The division conducts education in archival studies, library and information studies and museum studies in the first and second cycles, as well as education on the Bachelor’s programme in Digital Cultures. The division also offers third cycle education in library and information studies. At Lund University, library and information studies take a cultural sciences approach with a humanities-based understanding of contemporary phenomena, in which information and digitalisation are of particular significance.

Research at the division is multifaceted and permeated by critical analysis of the digitalisation of culture and society. The division deals with research themes such as the infrastructure of information, cultural heritage institutions, cultural policy, consumption and digital everyday life, changed literacies, material culture, biohacking, and aesthetic and artistic forms of expression. These themes are investigated through ethnographic, digital, visual and more explorative methods.

 

Duties

The main duties include teaching on the Master’s programme in ALM at the division. Teaching may also occur within the division’s Bachelor’s programme in Digital Cultures and other adjacent subjects at the department. Besides lectures and seminars, teaching also includes course direction, course development and course administration, as well as supervision of degree projects. Supervision and teaching in the third cycle of studies may also be required. The position also includes time for research. In time, the employee will be expected to become capable of running the division. The employee will be expected to take an active part in the collective activities of the department and division as well as to get involved in library and information studies as a teaching and research subject.

The ability to teach in Swedish, Danish or Norwegian, as well as English, from the first day of employment, is a requirement.

 

Required qualifications

  • Completed doctoral degree or equivalent research expertise relevant to the subject area in question and the duties included in this post.

  • Demonstrated teaching expertise.

  • Completed training in teaching and learning in higher education amounting to at least five weeks or acquired equivalent competence by other means.

Assessment criteria

  • the degree of research, teaching, administrative and other expertise that is of value in view of the work duties and subject matter of the post as well as other personal skills of relevance to perform the duties well.

  • a good national and international standing as a researcher,

  • good teaching ability, including a good ability to conduct, develop and lead teaching and other educational activities at different levels and using a variety of teaching methods,

  • an ability to participate in supervising doctoral students,

  • an ability to participate in and develop public engagement and other outreach activities,

  • an ability to otherwise lead and develop activities.

In the assessment, equal consideration is given to teaching expertise and research expertise.

 

Desired qualifications for the position are the following, in decreasing order of importance:

  • a doctoral degree in library and information studies or another relevant research studies subject and documented research on issues relevant to library and information studies,

  • documented experience of teaching library and information studies or teaching that has addressed issues relevant to library and information studies,

  • documented ability to obtain research funding in competition and

  • documented good ability for collaboration in education and research.
