Research group
Clinical Epidemiology Unit is a research group focusing on the disease osteoarthritis. The cross-disciplinary group encompasses about 20 team members. There is expertise in, e.g., proteomics, bioinformatics, biochemistry, orthopedics, physiotherapy, and statistics. We are currently looking for a PhD student for a full-time position for four years. Starting date by agreement.
Job description
As PhD student the working tasks will be focused on the own research project and thesis, incl. planning, preparation of samples, experiments, analysis and scientific reporting. Part of the position will also include maintenance at the laboratory and management of the biobank/freezers and new collection of samples in collaboration with the hospital.
The position’s research focus is within omics research, specifically within proteomics with a particular focus on studies of proteome change in the joint disease osteoarthritis.
The candidate will be actively engaged in generating proteomic (mass spectrometry) data, bioinformatic analysis of such data and describing disease-related changes.

Eligibility
Students with basic eligibility for third-cycle studies are those who- have completed a second-cycle degree- have completed courses of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are from second-cycle courses, or- have acquired largely equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad.
The employment of doctoral students is regulated in the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhD-studies shall primarily be taken into account. In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.
