Research Group for Breast cancer treatment
The Research in Research Group for Breast cancer treatment is conducted with several full-time researchers but also with affiliated clinical researchers and part-time PhD students. The research is located in modern premises at Medicon Village in Lund.

The employment as postdoctor is a career development position and we are now recruiting a highly motivated junior scientist with ability to independently understand and develop the group's project activities. The Researh Group is multidisciplinary with clinical, basic science and statistical expertise and good communicative ability is therefore important. Within the group we work with several projects with risk modeling based on clinical, proteomic and genomic data for prediction of survival in primary and metastatic breast cancer.

The employment as postdoctor is a temporary employment for 24 months with suggested starting date April 1st, 2022 or upon agreement.

Work assignments
The work assignments include work within the research group's ongoing projects with risk modeling for optimal surgical treatment and models for prognosis after diagnosis of breast cancer. Project planning, qualified work with databases, statistical analyzes of already collected clinical, proteomic and genomic data, and to independently write scientific articles are included.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications
This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in a career, and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers.

Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.

For appointments to a post-doctoral position, the following shall form the assessment criteria:

A good ability to develop and conduct high quality research. Teaching skills.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Qualifications
Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the last date for applications. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier.

Qualifications required:

  • PhD degree.
  • Good knowledge of tumor biology and cancer treatment documented in scientific publications.
  • Documented experience in handling large clinical databases and analyzing genomic data.
  • Good communicative ability in speech and writing.

Desirable skills:

  • PhD degree in Oncology or Biostatistics/Bioinformatics.
  • Experience of work with databases and independent statistical work.
  • Competence in Bioinformatics is particularly meritorious.

Terms of employment
This is a full-time employment limited to a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral researcher”) between SACO-S, OFR/S and SEKO, dated November 19, 2021.

The Department of Clinical Sciences Lund is one of six departments at the Faculty of Medicine. Clinical Sciences Lund cooperates closely with Skåne University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine in order to optimize the conditions for preclinical and clinical translational research, research strategies and development, as well as education on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
