The position will therefore only be filled if the most qualified candidate meets the following criteria: the candidate has not completed a PhD at Lund University, or alternatively has completed a PhD at Lund University but has subsequently held a position in another relevant environment for at least two years. In addition, the candidate must not be employed in the ELLIIT environment of Lund University at the end of the application period.

Subject
Electrical Engineering with a specialisation in Analogue integrated circuit design.

Subject description
The research focus will be mainly on wireless communication, where EIT has achieved several world-class results throughout the 2000s. To strengthen and expand our expertise in the field, targeting millimeter wave and THz frequencies  for future 5G-6G applications, we want to hire a professor with a specialisation in integrated wireless radio transmitters and receivers for RF / mm waves / THz communication. The integration technology will be silicon-based,  preferably CMOS or BiCMOS. Applicants are welcome to possess additional skills in adjacent fields, such as electronic / optical interfaces, signal sensing, energy harvesting, machine learning and digital signal processing.

Work duties
Work duties include:

  • Research within the subject area.
  • Teaching in the first, second and third cycles of studies.
  • Supervision of degree projects and doctoral students.
  • Actively seeking external research funding.
  • Collaboration with industry and wider society.
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above.

Qualification requirements
Appointment as a Professor requires that the applicant has:

  • Demonstrated research expertise.
  • Demonstrated teaching expertise.
  • Completed at least five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means, unless there are valid reasons.

Assessment criteria
When assessing the applicants, special importance will be given primarily to scientific excellence, and secondarily to teaching excellence.

The assessment criteria specify the aspects to be taken into account, and the level to be achieved, in order for the assessment criteria to be deemed fulfilled. The following assessment criteria must be fulfilled for appointment to Professor:

  • A very good national and international standing as a researcher. The requirement for international experience shall be assessed with consideration to the character and traditions of the subject.
  • A very high level of teaching skills, including a very good ability to conduct, develop and lead teaching and other educational activities on different levels and using a variety of teaching methods.
  • A good ability to supervise doctoral students to achieve a PhD.
  • A good ability to collaborate with wider society and communicate his or her activities.

  • Documented supervision of doctoral students until graduation.
  • Documented ability to attract external financing.
  • Documented international research experience.

Other qualifications

  • Documented experience in system design of integrated circuits RF / mm-wave / THz communication.
  • Documented track record of research in RF / mm-wave / THz integrated circuits for 5G and other systems.
  • Potential to be able to supplement the established research at the EIT with one adjacent research area, and combine and develop the different EIT profile areas.
  • Interest in working with new technologies (including III-V technologies) in addition to well-established silicon-based technologies.
  • A well-established and active research network.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research, first and second cycle education and innovation within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
