Description of the workplace
The International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) at Lund University was founded in 1994 and has since developed genuine interdisciplinary education and research with focus on strategies for sustainable development. The Institute facilitates a great number of external research and development projects as well as two international master programs. Subject description
IIIEE is looking for a researcher to support work in the Mistra REES research program, and support teaching activities at IIIEE. The researcher will work in close collaboration with corporations and other researchers. The main tasks include analyses of European Union and national policies related to the Circular Economy, assessments of barriers for circular business models as experienced by corporations, and the development of policy packages to overcome identified barriers.

Work duties
The work will be carried out within the externally funded project Mistra REES (homepage: mistrarees.se). The position includes conducting high-quality social science research, publishing in international scientific journals, giving policy relevant recommendations and, together with stakeholders including project partners, organising and participating in events within the project.

The position includes conducting literature reviews, mapping and case studies that include oral interviews. The position also includes handling of quantitative data. The position includes being involved in collaboration with various stakeholders and organisations within and outside the project.

The position also includes teaching English in the master's program run by IIIEE.

The tasks also include contributing to applications for research grants.

A researcher is also expected to work with administration linked to the tasks above.

Qualifications
Appointment to a research position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position.

  • Experience of both qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • A strong publication track record, which should include publications related to circular economy policies, and circular business models
  • Experience of research on circular business models
  • Experience of research on European Union environmental policies, most notably related to product policies and waste policies

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Consideration will also be given to i.e. good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the work within the unit/department, as well as contribute to its future development.

Additional assessment criteria:

  • Documented experience of working interdisciplinary and in collaboration with other researchers
  • Documented experience of analysing circular economy policies and circular business models
  • Documented experience of working with in-depth interviews
  • Documented experience of qualitative and qunatitative research methods '
  • Documented skills in publishing in academic journals or via academic book publishers
  • Demonstrated ability to independently conduct high-quality research and successfully complete scientific projects
  • Documented pedagogical skills including supervision of master's students
  • Demonstrated ability to disseminate research in international conferences and policy events

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment
This is a temporary 12-month position. Expected start for this position is 1st of October or according to agreement.
