The Department of Business Administration announces one position as Professor in Business Administration with specialization in Organisation studies.

Tasks

The professor is expected to strengthen the Department of Business Administration’s research in organisation studies. The Organisation group at the Department of Business Administration is a dynamic and stimulating research environment. The group is particularly known for its work in interpretive and critical management research with significant influence and visibility in the international research community. The group has an exceptionally strong historical background in applying and developing critical perspectives on management, organisation, and work, as well as on broader economic and societal trends. The research is characterised by interests in organisational phenomena such as leadership, identity, branding, change, creativity, craft, trust, night work, numbers, and knowledge work. Research within the group is reflected in education at all levels, but particularly in the Master’s program “Managing People, Knowledge and Change” and the PhD programme. The researchers in the organisation group have an extensive international network of collaboration. The dynamism of the research environment is also reflected in the fact that the group regularly hosts visiting researchers at all levels, from PhD students to professors. The professor is also expected to strengthen interdisciplinary research within the Department.

The professor will act as a research leader, manage research projects, initiate and support applications for external funding, in particular of his/her own research time and of PhD positions, develop seminar activities and attract national and international researchers to the research environment in the organisation group and to the Department of Business Administration.

The professor is expected to contribute to the teaching of the organisation group at all levels, from undergraduate to PhD level. The professor is also expected to contribute to the development of the department's network of research contacts both nationally and internationally, to supervise doctoral students and mentor early career researchers, and to engage with the surrounding community, locally and the wider society.

The division of duties for professors at the Department of Business Administration is 50 % teaching in undergraduate and graduate education and 50 % research and training and supervision of PhD students. This includes related day-to-day administration and taking an active part in the Department’s collegium of professors.

The School of Economics uses academic portfolios to document and present merits. It is important that applicants carefully read and follow the instructions under “Application” below.

Eligibility and qualifications

Eligibility for appointment as a professor is based on demonstrated academic as well as teaching ability. To be appointed professor, a minimum of five weeks’ higher education teaching training or equivalent knowledge acquired by other means is required.

Requirements for the position are:

  • A doctorate in organisation studies, management, or equivalent research competence relevant to the subject area and the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, network and engage externally as the department places particular emphasis on a positive working environment and the professor is expected to actively participate in the department's activities.

  • Proven ability to establish national and international contacts with researchers and research groups.
  • Proven research experience – in addition to that in organisation studies – in at least one other sub-discipline of business administration.

Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage. Applicants are expected to be able to teach in Swedish within two years from the starting date.

The professor will serve as a research leader within the organisation group and, together with other professors, within the department. The professor will be expected to manage the existing research of the organisation group and expand it into new areas, program funding applications, development of teaching programs, and mentoring of early career researchers. This requires a pronounced respect for all employees at the Department, drive, and the ability to enthuse and share knowledge.
